Wall Decor
in a Girl's Room

with decorative letter transfers

Framed art and pictures of friends make great wall décor in a girl’s room. As with shelving, pay attention to the way in which the pictures and/or art are arranged on the wall. Create visual interest. Hang pictures using colorful ribbons attached to the frames. Girls tend to have more “collections” so when shelves are insufficient to hold all these girly things, add a ledge around the room, at least a foot lower than the ceiling. A ledge is a great way to display items that won’t be played with. A chair rail creates the same display effect, and it’s something that a girl is able to reach.

Girls tend to favor soft, pastel colors on walls. Coordinated fabrics can also be used as wall décor in a girl’s room. Cover a bulletin board with the fabric and some ribbons and hang near a girl’s desk. Use fabric for fancy, frilly window treatments and coordinating pillows, seat cushions, and lamp shades. Regardless of what you select for wall décor in a girls’ room, try to create rhythm using repeat patterns. While rooms allow a child the freedom to express themselves, you also want to make sure that they feel safe and secure in their rooms.
